The Public enemies

My grand mother asked me a very smart question after watching the news regarding the protests in Pakistan and how the police there is arresting the opponents

"Why is the police so mean to the people like that ?? even there !! "

Since then I began to watch carefully and see how the Pakistani anti riot forces were dealing with the protesters ,the same scenario no respect to elder or woman , the same violence and the same hate

harsh police

And I asked myself the same question "Why is the police so mean to the people ?? "

Are not they from the people generally ?? And what are the people suffering from the same thing they suffer from too ??

Why is there this blind obedience to dictators ??

Seriously I do not understand how those forces or their bosses think because usually these forces do not think but they do what they ordered by their bosses !!

amnmrkazy

I mean the bosses or the police officers accept to be means of torture against the people , to be a symbol of fear and horror in the state , to be the right hand of the dictators whom their families hates and despised.

May because of the love of the power and authority , because may be they think that in a democratic society they will be less respected , ironically in a democratic society they are more respected because they are regarded as the real protectors of the society's security not the ruler's security ,in a dictatorship they are in fact less respected and hated, so hated as they are regarded as the fear tool and the power tool of the ruler

Yes I think it is because of the love of power and authority , People fear them , for them may be they think Fear means respect , well not necessarily Fear sometimes means hate

From couple of weeks the assistant of the interior minister General Ahmed Diaa spoke through the phone in "10 PM" TV show commenting on the court's order to jail Islam Nabieh 3 years wondering why people are so happy as if it were against the Police for no reason !!

well either he really lives in a dream world , in another country or he is bias to his institute ignoring the fact that police is no longer in the people's service but the ruler's service

You know it is up them to make themselves either the public enemies or public sons

The police officer must put in front of his eyes is that the law was made to protect the people not to protect the ruler and that in the end he is not above the people ,because he is one of them and he is in their service !!

  1. great points there.

The trouble is even though the police is made of ordinary people like us with families who also probably hate the rulers, they have been brainwashed to follow orders.

Also, and this is just a theory, but I think since many of these officers come from poor backgrounds the feeling of power and superiority even over richer people goes to their head.

  2. @that guy, surely some of them are brainwashed and some of them like you said "it is not a theory" love the feeling the power and superiority over the richer or even the more educated people ,it is not a theory , in fact it is a reality , you can see in Youssef Chahin movie Hatem Vs.the D.A ,the fear is from these haters because those brainwashed can be awaked , can be moved ,for example the famous riots of the anti-riots protests in Al-Ahram area

  3. I don't know if it's as simple as you make it out to be.

Any time where there is a massive demonstration, be it in Karachi, Cairo, Paris, London or Washington, there is always the issue of crowd control. Do you recall all of the demonstrations that used to take place during the G8 summits. All of those young people (most students) from all over the world would come and protest the world domination of few nations and much of the same police tactics were used. Demonstrators were beaten, arrested and tear gas etc. was used. Age and gender do not matter.

It's about controlling the masses. Police are just doing their job in these cases and no they don't think it could be their mother, sister or grandmother in front of them. Just faces and just a job. I have no explanation for torture done in police stations. I think that that is just the ugly aspect of humanity that exists, regardless of race or religion. Within humans there exists great capacity for love, kindness, empathy and generosity but there also exists great capacity for hate, evil, infliction of pain and cruelty.

  4. @anonymous ,here I am speaking not about the foreign police forces outside the middle east and the third world , there in Europe Law and constitution that protect the people and put a framework on the relation between the security and the people
Believe it or not I wish that the police in my country treats the protesters in the same way they treat those students in G8 Summits
