The importance of this discovery to Egypt

Last week  the minister of culture in Egypt announced a huge archeological discovery. This discovery is important as it proves the Egyptian identity of Sinai Peninsula.

The Egyptian archeologists have found an ancient headquarter for the Pharaohnic army  in Sinai 3 KM northeast the city of Qantara in Suez in the Horus military road aka Road of kings , which extends from Qantara in the West to Rafah in the east.

They found a fortress and a town. The fortress or its ruins are a mud-brick castle with 4 meters high towers , this castle goes back to the time of Ramses II

Beside the fortress of the castle there is the town of “Tharu”.

Egyptologists knew about the town of “Tharu” from the inscriptions on ancient Egyptian temples showing the shape of the city of Tharu, which lays at the start of the Horus military road

The site contains the first New Kingdom temple and ancient Egyptian warehouses where the army stored grain, weapons, ovens, seals and earthenware.

By the way Zahi Hawas is speaking lately over and over in the local media about restoring our stolen monuments from around globe ,but I never hear him speaking about our stolen monuments in Israel in which they took during their occupation to Sinai, Moshe Dyan did not waste his time there.
